Front Page Jolla reveal strategy, UI and Qt Creator-based SDK at Slush 2012 Jolla is once again foremost in the minds of many mobile OS enthusiasts and open-source aficionados with more information being revealed regarding their strategy and future. The launch of their official website and a slick video partway between a teaser and a product video give a definite sense of progress and should inspire confidence in everyone holding their breath for a product launch.

Today Last week I finally joined the Wikimedia Foundation , with my US visa renewed and all the bureaucratic requirements in place. I work at the Platform Engineering team, reporting to Sumana Harihareswara and having other (remote) neighbors like Guillaume Paumier , Chris McMachon and Andre Klapper (of GNOME & Maemo/MeeGo fame, what a coincidence!). I feel happy.
Open Letter from the Hildon Foundation Board to the Maemo Community
Dear Maemo Community, As long-time supporters and contributors — and, in all humility, quite honored to be counted among all of you — we, the inaugural Hildon Foundation Board felt it necessary that we put forth an open, public statement about how we feel the “Board” should be considered and engaged with. At this point, the first Board meeting minutes have been published for public review. As we hope you’ll see, it is nothing but the Maemo Community’s best interests that we are concerned with.
gPodder 2.20.2 for Maemo 4/5, gPodder 3.3.0 for MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan
gPodder 2.20.2 has been released today, and gPodder 3.3.0 has also been released. Version 2.20.2 is for users of Maemo 4 (N800/N810) and Maemo 5 (N900) and version 3.3.0 is for MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan users (N950/N9).

TizMee – Tizen compatibility layer for MeeGo
Overview With the (unexpected) release of Sviox ‘s HTML widget runtime I thought it about time that I made my own efforts in that direction a bit more public. TizMee is designed to make it possible to run Tizen (and other) apps on MeeGo, supporting general HTML5 apps, apps using Tizen specific APIs and Cordova/PhoneGap apps (with some slight modification). This first early release should support general HTML5 apps fairly well (although there are still a few that have issues), some aspects of the Tizen API (this is by no means complete however) and pretty much all of the Cordova/PhoneGap API.

Front Page Estel deselected as Council chair; discussions on legal entity In the Community Council meeting on Friday, the three members of the council in attendance ( Craig Woodward , Niel Nielsen , RM Bauer ) removed Piotr Jawidzyk as chair of the current council, and will discuss a replacement between themselves this week.
